W dniu 10 września 2012 na Capitol Hill w Washinghton, DC, odbędzie się uroczystość odtajnienia Narodowych Archiwów Katyńskich, które dotychczas pozostawały w gestii Narodowego Archiwum Kongresu USA.
Organizatorami tego wielkiego wydarzenia są:
Archiwum Narodowe Kongresu USA oraz Libra Institute pod kierownictwem Pani Marii Szonert. Wydarzenie powinno być transmitowane przez CSPAN, lokalny kanał telewizyjny Kongresu USA. Uroczystość zaczyna się o godzinie 3:00 po południu czasu wschodniego.
Wraz z kongresmenami, którzy będą relacjonować sprawę Katynia, zabierze również głos prezes Libra Institute oraz organizacji Katyn Council, Pani mec. Maria Szonert. Do udziału w tej uroczystości został też zaproszony przedstawiciel rodzin katyńskich Pan Piotr Uzarowicz, który aktualnie mieszka w San Francisco. Ponadto Pan Piotr Uzarowicz jest autorem filmu o wydarzeniach katyńskich.
Wiadomość o odtajnieniu dokumentów katyńskich dotarła do nas z Libra Institute z prośbą o poinformowanie o tej uroczystości jak największych skupisk polonijnych.
W załączeniu list od Libra Institute, który informuje o problemach w sfinansowaniu tego ważnego przedsięwzięcia.
Z pomoca pospieszyl Zarzad Kongresu Polonii Amerykanskiej na Poludniowa Kalifornie, ktory za poparciem Pani Prezes Natalii Kaminskiej pokryje koszty pobytu przedstawiciela rodzin katynskich. Jest to jednak kropla w morzu potrzeb.

Archives’ work on the declassification and release of Katyn documentation has
finally come to a much – awaited moment. The official announcement of the
Opening of the Katyn Collection will take place at a special ceremony on
Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, on September 10, 2012 at 3 pm. The Chief
Archivist will present the results of the search and declassification of Katyn
documention, and representatives of the Katyn Council will have the opportunity
to share their stories and express their gratitude for this important
disclosure. We hope that the ceremony will be broadcasted at least by CSPAN.
On behalf of the Katyn Council, Libra Institute is the co-sponsor of this event.
In this capacity Libra Institute collaborates with the National Archives and the
Congress in putting together a program of this event, invites representatives of
the Katyn community from all over the United States, arranges for exhibits and
visual aids, and collaborates with the academic community in the United States
and Poland.
Especially for this occasion, Libra Institute will publish a collection of
essays entitled "Katyn: States sponsored Extermination." Above I am attaching
a press release for this publication.
On behalf of Libra Institute, I would like to ask for your financial support
in putting together this major event. In particular, Libra Institute would like
to purchase a larger number of copies of the Katyn book in order to distribute
this latest work on Katyn to the members of US Congress. So, the financial
support of the Polonia community in acquiring a larger number of copies of this
book for distribution to the US politicians and special guests is of great
importance and urgency at this point. Also, Libra Institute is in the process
of preparing historical materials for exhibition on the rollups during the
Opening of the Katyn Collection. The cost of producing these materials as well
as presenting them on special rollups is currently beyond Libra’s budget. So any
financial assistance towards this project would be greatly appreciated as well.
